THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE.
When I stepped into that dimly lit theater and saw the screen that would soon be playing the continuation of one of the most beloved franchises in history, I was given pause. I sat watching as fans, both zealous and casual took their seats for the show. I heard little children asking their parents questions about Star Wars. It was oddly humbling to see fans of all ages unite for such a momentous occasion. I heard the cries and claps as that iconic march played, and that same yellow logo drifted across the silver screen for the seventh time. As the crawl started to roll, I began to smile and laugh in fond memory as I read the title, and when Han Solo and Chewbacca made their entrance, the crowd erupted in yells, whistles, and clapping in victorious affirmation of Solo and Chewie's beloved status.
I was introduced to Star Wars at a young age, and it became a major part of my childhood, and I still have many character names and lore memorized to this day. I used to discuss and debate theories with my friends all the time. (I still debate a little now.)
Now, enough of my nostalgic reminiscing. Let me give you my opinion of the film. I loved it. It felt (How should I put this?) right. It felt like the continuation that we wanted. It is full of nods to the Original Trilogy, but it almost completely disregards the Prequel Trilogy. (I'm not sure if its disregard for the Prequels is a strength or a weakness.) The characters are great. The acting is great. I am really just content with it. It is one of the best films I've ever seen.
J. J. Abrams and all those who worked on the film really knocked it out of the park. The film has an air of childlike wonder about it. Kylo Ren is a good villain. He is similar in his attire to Darth Vader, but he is very much an original character. Poe Dameron is very charismatic and funny. John Boyega's Fin and Harrison Ford's Han Solo have amazing chemistry, and Rey is also a very good protagonist. I intently await the next installment. (Also, John Williams' score is as amazing as ever.)
May the force be with you always!
