Review: Fantastic 4

When I stepped into the cinemas last evening to see the Fantastic 4, I honestly had no idea what to expect. The reviews have been pretty bad, but I'm going to break rank on this one. I liked the Fantastic 4. Okay, it wasn't the best superhero movie ever, but, considering we live in a world with Batman & Robin with Val Kilmer and Arnold Shwarzenegger and Halle Berry's Catwoman, it was far from the worst. The acting was good. It wasn't great. It wasn't terrible. It was good. The team was not really a team until the end of the movie. It was very much an origin story. It was a good one, however, and I expect the sequel to be good if not better.

Yes, the rumors are very true, this is not an action movie...until the last twenty minutes, give or take. Let me put it this way, Fantastic 4 is Star Trek, and Avengers is Star Wars. The action starts when Doom starts killing people like Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist. Overall, it's not a bad movie, nor is it a fantastic movie (pun totally intended). It is, however a good movie, and if you're looking for a movie to go see, you may find it a pleasant surprise.

Oh, and if you are a video game fan (like me), you'll be interested in the Assassin's Creed: Syndicate gameplay Doom is watching when they first introduce him.

Overall Score: 7.5/10
