Live-Action Ghost in the Shell Movie gets "Straight Outta Compton" Writer

Well, Ghost in the Shell seems to be getting more popular in the news. We've known for a while that there would be a live-action adaptation, but not much recent news has really come up about it. Scarlett Johansson has been cast in the star role of Major Motoko Kusanagi, the head of an anti-cyberterrorism unit called Public Security Section 9, in a near-future Japan. Rupert Sanders will direct the movie, and it will start production in New Zealand at the beginning of next year. Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we also now know that Jonathan Herman will be overhauling the script for Ghost in the Shell. The live-action adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s critically acclaimed manga is set to release in theaters March 31, 2017. Until next time, for all your cyberpunk, manga, and movie needs, stick right here with CBNN.
