Marvel's New Groove

Ever since the release of Daredevil, we've seen a new side of Marvel, a side that leans closer to DC's attitude of seriousness than ever we've seen on-screen before, but they still keep hold of a sense of humor. Jessica Jones appears to be taking an even darker approach than Daredevil did. We don't have many lines from David Tennant's "Purple Man", but that we have heard is quite terrifying.
I have always been a fan of darker superheroes. I still like Superman, Iron Man, and Captain America, but ever since I was young I liked Batman, Daredevil, and others, most recently Moon Knight, who are characteristically more serious. I do however not like it when comics go for shock value and try to see how dark they can go. In my opinion you shouldn't make something violent for the sake of violence. You shouldn't have more dark themes in something than you absolutely need. I think Marvel did a spectacular job of this with Daredevil, and I sense that they will take an equal amount of care with Jessica Jones' mini-series. I personally think other characters that would lend themselves well to Netflix would be, the Punisher (who will be starring in Daredevil season 2), Moon Knight (preferably Warren Ellis or Brian Michael Bendis' run with the character), and Blade, among others. With the release of Jessica Jones quickly approaching, we don't have long to wait before we see what Marvel's next move is.
